OXFORD NUFFIELD MEDICAL FELLOWSHIP

Nominations for this award have closed. At this stage it is unknown if a 2008 Fellowship will be available.


The Scheme for Oxford Nuffield Medical Fellowships in either a Clinical Medicine or Medical Science department of the University is offered from time to time. The fellowship carries an allowance in the vicinity of £38,628 - £40,395 - £42,163. This allowance is subject to United Kingdom tax. The Trustees pay direct, economy class return air fares for the appointee, his/her spouse, and children up to the age of 18 years. A generous baggage allowance is also given.

Applicants should have graduated from one of the universities listed below and should either hold a medical qualification obtained in Australia or the United Kingdom or have appropriate research experience. There is no limit as to age or status.

The fellowship is tenable for two years in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension for a third year. Fellows are expected to return to Australia at the end of the fellowship to continue to do work of a similar nature.

Successful fellows consult with the University's Medical Science office and the department concerned regarding the starting date. Awards are usually available from 1 October.

Applications should not exceed six pages and should include a curriculum vitae, an outline of the research which applicants wish to pursue, indicating the department in which the fellowship would be held. Applicants are required to establish links with the relevant University of Oxford department before submitting their applications. Three referees reports must accompany applications.
