OXFORD NUFFIELD MEDICAL FELLOWSHIP 2009/10

Please note that the earliest possible starting date in Oxford for this Fellowship is 1 October 2009. All applicants will be advised whether they are successful short-listed candidates or not by the end of June, with interviews for short-listed candidates likely to held in July.
The Scheme for Oxford Nuffield Medical Fellowships in either a Clinical Medicine or Medical Science department of the University of Oxford is offered for 2009/10. The Fellowship carries an allowance on the scale £40,143 £41,948 £43,755. This allowance is subject to United Kingdom tax. The Trustees pay direct, economy class return air fares for the appointee, his/her spouse, and children up to the age of 18 years. A generous baggage allowance is also given. Applicants should have graduated from one of the universities listed below and should either hold a medical qualification obtained in Australia or the United Kingdom or have appropriate research experience. There is no limit as to age or status.
The fellowship is tenable for two years in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension for a third year. Fellows are expected to return to Australia at the end of the fellowship to continue to do work of a similar nature. The earliest possible starting date for the Fellowship is 1 October 2009.
Applicants should establish contact with the Department at the University of Oxford in which they wish to work before making an application and a letter of support and commitment to the research from the host Department should accompany the application. Information about the research interests of those Departments in which the Fellowship may be held can be found at www.ox.ac.uk/divisions/medical_sciences.html. The successful Fellow establishes the starting date with the host Department.
