MS 021 – KREFFT, Gerard (1830-1881)
Zoologist and Museum Curator
Gerard Krefft was born in Brunswick, Germany, and came to Australia in 1852. He worked on various goldfields until 1857 and was naturalist to the Victorian Government Collecting Expedition to northern Victoria under Wilhelm Blandowski 1857-58. He was appointed to the position of Assistant Curator and clerk of the Australian Museum, Sydney, in 1860, and Curator, 1864-76.
