Ichthyologist and Entomologist
Whitley was Curator of Ichthyology at the Australian Museum 1922-65. He collected insects in Tasmania, eastern Australia and Lord Howe Island and assisted A Musgrave in compiling the Bibliography of Australian entomology 1775-1930 (1932)
