Dr Allan Carroll was Founder and Secretary of the Anthropological Society of Australasia, which gained the prefix "Royal" after 1901. He was very interested in rock paintings, edited Science of man, the first anthropological journal published in Australia, was the President of the Child Study Association of Australasia and died in 1911
