Officer-in-Charge, CSIRO Upper Atmosphere section 1958-70, Martyn was earlier CSIR/) Chief Scientific Officer, Radio Research Board 1944-58 and Chief of Radio Physics 1940-41. He was Secretary (Physical Sciences) of the Australian Academy of Science 1954-55 and President 1969-70.
