MS 101 - ENNOR, Arnold Hughes (1912-1977)

Biochemist and academic and public administrator.

Hugh Ennor was Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Education and Science 1967-73. Earlier he was Professor of Biochemistry 1948-67, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University, Canberra. He was elected to Fellowship of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute in 1951 and of the Australian Academy of Science in 1954. Government honours included CBE in 1963 and a Knight Bachelor in 1965. He was awarded Doctor of Science honoris causa of the University of New South Wales in 1968 and Doctor of Medicine honoris causa of Monash University in 1969.
