SOCIETY FOR MASS SPECTROMETRY

The Australian Society for Mass Spectrometry was officially inaugurated on 4 June
1970, but the name was changed to "Australian and New Zealand Society for Mass
Spectrometry" during the first conference in 1971. The primary aim of the Society is
to organise a national conference on mass spectrometry every one or two years. Other
aims are to establish the ability for members of the Society to get together and
exchange information of mutual interest, to improve communications and co-
operation on the science of mass spectrometry in Australia, to create a means of
regular interchange of information (State meetings, correspondence) in Australia, to
establish regular interaction with prominent members of overseas mass spectrometry
societies and to set up and offer a regular abstraction service for all members.
