These files comprise a unique historical record of the progress of organisation of the best organised and most successful international scientific congress ever held in Australia, being, as they are, the complete collection of copies of correspondence sent from the Sydney Secretariat of the XIII International Botanical Congress, from Febrary [sic], 1980 until the end of the Congress on 28th August, 1981. (Correspondence subsequent to the Congress will follow shortly.) This collection will be a source of information and inspiration to historians of science and organisers of congresses.
