PAMELA ANNE WILLS
1927-1999

Wills was born and educated in Sydney. She followed her Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney with a Master of Science from the University of London, interspersing her studies with periods of travel and laboratory work. She joined the Australian Atomic Energy Commission (AAEC, later Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, ANSTO) in 1960 and advanced to the position of senior principal research scientist. Her major areas of research were in food irradiation and radiation sterilisation of medical products and equipment. After retiring from ANSTO in 1988 she established a consultancy to continue her work and contributed to World Health Organization and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) projects, especially in South East Asia.
