Changes in the global environment
This session identifies the components of the natural global environment that are experiencing change, including climate, biodiversity, the ozone layer, water resources, land use and cover, and regional and urban air quality. Topics include the recent enormous growth in knowledge of the composition of the global atmosphere, its relationship to human activities and to the climate system, and observational evidence of national and global warming. The interaction of all forms of global environmental change with human activities, and human futures, will be considered, together with the issues confronting the conduct of natural science and social sciences in support of sound policy development.
