AUSTRALIA—GERMANY WORKSHOP ON BIODIVERSITY
The Shine Dome, 13-17 March 2006

Capturing and conserving the diversity of plant genomes
by Professor Robert Henry, Centre for Plant Conservation Genetics, Southern Cross University

Analysis of diversity in plant genomes might be used to support management of biodiversity in wild populations and in genetic resource collections. High throughput technologies provide tools that might be adapted to the analysis of extensive collections of biodiversity in DNA banks. The development of appropriate genome analysis tools and the assembly of DNA banks enhance the potential for efficient discovery of novel genes and alleles for use in agriculture, forestry and food production.
