Understanding the population-environment debate:
Colin Butler
Colin Butler is co-founder of a Third World development organisation, called BODHI, and has visited the Third World many times. He is currently writing The Human Titanic a book which argues that the scale of global inequality blinds wealthy populations not only to the fate of the poor, but even of themselves. He is a co-ordinating lead author for the chapter on human well-being for the scenarios working group of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. He is employed, part time, as a research fellow at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at the ANU.
