AUSTRALIAN FRONTIERS OF SCIENCE, 2008
The Shine Dome, Canberra, 21-22 February
Closing remarks
by Professor Kurt Lambeck PresAA, FRS
Thank you all for a very successful two days. Thank you to the session organisers, the speakers, the chairs, and all those of you who have contributed to the discussion.
I think we would all agree that we have had some marvellous examples of the outstanding science that is being done by young researchers across the country. If we were able to extrapolate this beyond the small group that we have got here, then we should be very reasonably assured of Australia's future as a scientifically and technologically advanced nation. I think the challenge that the scientific community in general, and the Academy in particular, has ahead of itself is to ensure this. But I have come away with sufficient courage from these two days to ensure that we will play our part in it.
On the personal side, I hope that you have all enjoyed this, and I hope that you have learned new things, gained new insights, expanded your networks, to help you in your careers ahead.
