Session 4: Avoiding dangerous climate change

Geoff Love has a science degree and masters from Latrobe University, a PhD from Colorado State University and an MBA from Deakin University. He was a senior forecaster in Darwin, spent two years on attachment to the Meteorological Satellite Centre in Japan, and served as regional director in the Northern Territory and officer-in-charge of the National Meteorological Centre in Melbourne. He has also served as vice-president and president of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Commission for Basic Systems. Geoff is currently a member of the WMO executive council and a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Bureau. He has had a number of appointments outside the Bureau of Meteorology, including one to assist the Industry Commission in its inquiry into the costs and benefits of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He has published a large number of scientific papers on tropical meteorology, climate and various aspects of applied meteorology.
