Australia-Chile Mining Workshop

The Academy of Science, in conjunction with the Embassy of Chile in Australia, organised an Australia-Chile scoping workshop in the area of water efficiency in mining. The workshop was funded by the Australian Government Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR).
The workshop was opened by Professor John Taplin, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Adelaide, and Mr Jose Luis Balmaceda, Chilean Ambassador to Australia. Six Chilean presenters and six Australian presenters participated in the one-day event. The presenters represented both government agencies and research institutes.
As a result of the workshop, several areas of potential collaboration were identified that will be pursued in the coming weeks.
