    International Science Linkages – Science Academies Programme 2008–2009 grants

    Ninety-one leading Australian scientists have been awarded grants to undertake important collaborative research under the Australian Government's Backing Australia's Ability.

    The funding is part of the $4.9 million provided to the Australian Academy of Science over the three years of the International Science Linkages – Science Academies Programme.

    Research is strengthened by interaction with the best scientists around the world. This programme assists Australian researches to access the best science internationally.

    The programme enables Australian and international researchers to collaborate with each other by funding the recipients' travel to research institutions in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Europe and North America.

    Australian scientists will be working on a diverse range of topics including: tissue engineering; soil carbon sequestration; coral reefs; forensic science; nanotechnology and genomics.
