SCIENCE STARTS HERE: GET CONNECTED
15 January 2007
The overwhelming response to an Australian Academy of Science national award-winning educational program has prompted its expansion for potential use in all primary schools around the nation.
And to ensure the bigger and better Primary Connections science and literacy education program gets off to the best possible start, more than 120 educators from around Australia will converge on Canberra this Wednesday to train in this exciting program. The newly trained facilitators will then take the program to primary school teachers in all parts of the country.
The Academy was almost knocked over in the rush for the available places, with more than 200 educators lining up.
In less than two years, Primary Connections' reputation already precedes itself. The program, which last year won a coveted and prestigious Australian Publishers Association Award, has been a huge success in the classroom.
The program's recent expansion through the addition of three more units means it will be available to every primary school teacher across the country and is set for whole-school implementation.
For example, Queensland's Education Department wants the program to be implemented in every primary school across the state as soon as possible.
