Fellow to lead American Biophysical Society

A Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, Professor Frances Separovic, has been elected as Secretary of the prestigious United States Biophysical Society.

The Biophysical Society, founded in 1956, is a professional, scientific society established to encourage development and dissemination of knowledge in biophysics.

Professor Separovic, who is also Head of Chemistry at the University of Melbourne, has been a member of the society since 1985. She was elected for her "pioneering research using solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques to study the structure and dynamics of membrane-associated polypeptides.”

Professor Separovic will begin her four-year term as the society’s secretary in July next year.
