AUSTRALIAN PRIMARY TEACHERS BUILDING CONNECTIONS
15 January 2005
More than 100 primary school teachers from across Australia will trial an exciting new initiative that links science and literacy in our primary schools.
The teachers from government, Catholic and independent schools, will participate in the PrimaryConnections project in Canberra from 17-21 January, and will trial the programme in their own classrooms this year.
The Australian Government has provided $1.8 million for this innovative project, developed by the Australian Academy of Science in partnership with the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training.
The project is a mix of new curriculum resources and training support for teachers who have an ideal opportunity to explore and try activities at workshops to be held at the Shine Dome, CSIRO Discovery Centre and Questacon.
The participants feedback will be vital for fine tuning the program ahead of full implementation in schools across Australia in 2006.
The workshops are part of the ongoing professional learning programme developed to support teachers in the PrimaryConnections trial.
