Steering Australia to sustainability
MEDIA BRIEFING & BOOK LAUNCH
19 February 2013
As Australia's population ages, sea levels rise, and food and water security grow more uncertain, the nation's way of life is under increasing threat.
The Australian Academy of Science has brought together 35 senior and emerging natural and social scientists to address these issues in an important new guide for a sustainable Australia: Negotiating our future: Living scenarios for Australia to 2050.
Under the guidance of internationally celebrated oceans and atmospheric researcher Dr Mike Raupach, the authors propose tools and approaches to ensure Australia's social, economic and environmental sustainability to 2050 and beyond.
The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce, will launch the book this Thursday 21 February at the Shine Dome in Gordon St Canberra.
Please join us for a pre-launch media briefing with expert authors, followed by the launch.
