Sustainable fuels and discovering galaxies: Fellows’ research funded by ARC

Two Fellows of the Australian Academy of Science have been awarded Laureate Fellowships by the Australian Research Council (ARC) to fund their research.

The Fellowships, announced today by the Minister for Education Christopher Pyne, provide project funding  to outstanding researchers as part of the ARC ‘s Discovery Program.

Professor Rose Amal was awarded more than $2.3 million to develop technology to transform carbon dioxide into sustainable fuel. Professor Johnathan Bland-Hawthorn will be funded with $2.5 million to develop a revolutionary survey machine to discover how galaxies are formed.

Sixteen Fellowships have been awarded to researchers across the nation, with a total value of $42 million.
