David Wansbrough still remembers being spellbound and fascinated the first time he went to Questacon, the hands-on science centre in Canberra. So it was no surprise that he worked there as an explainer for five years during school and university. At university he did a science degree, finishing with an honours thesis on the mathematics of soap films. After that he toured Australia with Questacon's Science Circus as part of a one-year graduate diploma in science communication. David now works on rural policy for the Prime Minister's department in Canberra. He is also studying again, this time in public policy. In his spare time, David communicates science through CSIRO's Helix magazine and the Australian Mathematical Society, and stays in touch with the Australian Science Communicators.
