Eleanor Stodart
Eleanor Stodart wrote nature study books for children for more than 30 years. She was involved in the writing of Biology: The Common Threads and Environmental Science for the Australian Academy of Science. Her interest in animals began at a young age and was developed by a good biology teacher at high school, and then by studying science at the University of Sydney. Her first job took her to CSIRO in Canberra. She produced her first book, Snails, when her children were small and she found that there was a lack of books about animals for young children. She had a great interest in children's literature, writing many reviews and articles. Sadly, Eleanor died on 2 December 2004.
