INDIGENOUS PERSPECTIVES

The AIATSIS Library holds the most comprehensive collection of print materials on Australian Indigenous studies in the world. See http://www.aiatsis.gov.au/

An extensive range of books, articles and other resources are available by searching the catalogues at the National Library. See http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Victoria, has an A – Z list of resources that informed the Science Continuum P-10. Hyperlinks to the references have not been provided as full text listings of academic publications tend to relocate frequently, but pasting the article title into a search engine may locate the full text on the web. See http://www.education.vic.gov.au/studentlearning/teachingresources/science/scicontinuum/research.htm

The Science background CD accompanying each PrimaryConnections unit includes a segment on students' conceptions.

The ideas of classification used in science are not shared by Indigenous people. Their classifications tend to be based on utility, not the same criteria which we use in the different areas of science.
