Professional Learning Facilitatorsin front of the Academy's
Shine Dome in Canberra.
PrimaryConnections is first and foremost a professional learning programme for teachers supported by quality curriculum resources – so our workshops are a key element of its structure.
The second workshop for Professional Learning Facilitators was held at The Australian Academy of Science in Canberra from 17–19 January 2007. An additional 120 facilitators were trained, adding to the 88 from 2006. There are now more than 200 facilitators throughout Australia, representing every state, territory and educational sector.
Workshop participants learned about the underpinning principles and research behind PrimaryConnections and attended rotating workshops on five key elements of the programme:
- Linking science and literacy
- Co-operative learning
- Assessment
- Investigation
- 5Es
Facilitators are available to conduct a range of professional learning for schools interested in PrimaryConnections. The PrimaryConnections website lists names and contact details of people in each state and territory who coordinate the activities of facilitators.
