The development of PrimaryConnections is being continually informed by research and evaluation.

In 2012, research was commissioned to enhance knowledge of how teachers understand and implement PrimaryConnections’ units. The report: Teaching primary science: Trial-teacher feedback on the implementation of PrimaryConnections and the 5E model indicates that PrimaryConnections is changing the face of primary science in a wide range of classrooms.

- In 2007 the impact of PrimaryConnections on students' science processes, literacies of science and attitudes towards science were evaluated. The research report is now available.
- Small Study – Big Success Story (October 2008). PrimaryConnections Incorporating Indigenous Perspectives Pilot Study Report.
- Ongoing evaluations are used to inform the development of PrimaryConnections. The reports evaluate the impact of the program on teachers, Professional Learning Facilitators, university science educators, and principals.
- In 2005 research was conducted to assess the impact of PrimaryConnections in trial schools. The results showed that PrimaryConnections has a strong, positive impact on students, teachers, and schools.
