Teachers program
The Australian Academy of Science offered a special program for teachers in conjunction with Science at the Shine Dome. Each State and Territory Catholic, Independent and State education authority was invited to send one representative. In addition, secondary science teachers were invited to apply for the Australian Academy of Science Teacher Awards.

Short presentations were made by young researcher awardees.

Education workshop
A presentation was made by international researcher, Dr Angela Belcher, followed by presentations by teachers who won the Australian Academy of Science Teacher Awards.

Annual dinner
Teachers were seated amongst Fellows and young researchers. The after dinner speaker was the Hon Peter McGauran MP, Minister for Science.

This symposium covered the biological, chemical, engineering and environmental aspects of nanoscience.
