Early-career researchers program

The Australian Academy of Science offered a special program for teachers in conjunction with Science at the Shine Dome. Each State and Territory Catholic, Independent and State education authority was invited to send one representative. In addition, secondary science teachers were invited to apply for the Australian Academy of Science Teacher Awards.

Wednesday 30 April
9.30am-4.00pm	New Fellows seminar 20 new Academy Fellows presented 10-minute talks about their research.
6.00-8.30pm	Informal dinner Short presentations were made by young researcher awardees.
Thursday 1 May
10.00am-1.00pm	Awards presentation Admission of Fellows, the Burnet Lecture and presentations by awardees.
2.00-5.00pm	Education workshop A presentation was made by international researcher, Dr Angela Belcher, followed by presentations by teachers who won the Australian Academy of Science Teacher Awards.
7.00 for 7.30pm	Annual dinner Teachers were seated amongst Fellows and young researchers. The after dinner speaker was the Hon Peter McGauran MP, Minister for Science.
Friday 2 May
8.50am-3.40pm	Annual symposium Nanoscience – where physics, chemistry and biology collide This symposium covered the biological, chemical, engineering and environmental aspects of nanoscience. Program
