Teacher Award winners from 2007

The Academy sponsored a teacher from each state and territory to attend its annual Science at the Shine Dome conference in Canberra. The conference activities included the New Fellows seminar, awards presentation, education workshop and annual symposium. The title of the 2008 symposium was Dangerous climate change: Is it inevitable?

Those who attended:

  • learnt about the latest research across a range of science disciplines
  • met and talked with renowned scientists and young researchers
  • exchanged ideas and curriculum materials with interstate colleagues.

The award included:

  • registration for all Science at the Shine Dome events
  • return airfares to Canberra
  • accommodation for the nights of 7 and 8 May (also 6 May for awardees from Western Australia and the Northern Territory)
  • a formal dinner with Fellows of the Academy and an informal dinner with young researchers
  • lunches, morning and afternoon teas on 7-9 May.

The awards were open to primary and secondary teachers. Selection was based on merit.

The awards were organised jointly with the Australian Science Teachers Association.
