The Academy works closely with the Australian Government Departments and Agencies in support of emerging projects, goals, and objectives. This includes but is not limited to the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources; the Australian Space Agency; and the Department of Health. Primary Connections, reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry and Science by Doing are supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment. Australia’s Chief Scientist
The Academy works with the office of Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel AO FTSE FAA FAHMS, to provide research-based evidence for the Prime Minister and other federal ministers. The Rapid Research Information Forum (RRIF) was formed in response to COVID-19 and is a forum for rapid information sharing and collaboration within the Australian research and innovation sector. It is championed by the Chief Scientist and its operations are led by the Australian Academy of Science. More about the Chief Scientist

CSIRO
The Academy and CSIRO signed a new five-year partnership agreement in 2019, strengthening their long-term commitment to Australian science as part of the global research enterprise. The two organisations have long cooperated to produce the CSIRO-owned journals of scientific research which are published by CSIRO Publishing. CSIRO also supports Academy outreach with event sponsorship to engage with and build the sector through learning, awareness, and in celebration of STEM achievement. More about CSIRO
Department of Defence: Defence Science and Technology
Defence Science and Technology and the Academy collaborate in partnership to support deep public awareness and understanding of science and technology in Australia. We share aspirations and a mutual commitment to encourage the future of Australian STEM, workforce diversity and science and technology that supports Australia’s emerging strategic challenges. International Science Council
In May 2020, the Academy launched Global Science TV, a fortnightly web show produced by the Academy in partnership with the International Science Council. The first episode discussed how we should respond to climate change with the urgency of COVID-19, and featured former President of Ireland and UN Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, and International Science Council President Daya Reddy. Minderoo Foundation Wildfire and Disaster Resilience Program
The Academy supports the Minderoo Foundation’s Wildfire and Disaster Resilience Program. This program intends to create a base of evidence to act where it’s needed most in preparing for future natural disasters in Australia. The program is a collaboration between leading experts, including the Academy, to develop a new national resilience blueprint, with the goal of making Australians safer and transforming the nation into a global leader in fire and natural disaster resilience. SIEF
The Academy has a long-standing relationship with the Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF). SIEF supports annual fellowships for a group of Australia’s top early-career scientists to travel to Lindau in Germany for a week of meetings with Nobel laureates and a research innovation tour of German organisations. In 2019, SIEF committed $1 million to supporting the Academy’s fellowships to the Lindau Nobel Laureates Meetings for another 10 years. More about SIEF
