Sponsor Academy events

The Academy supports and delivers events around Australia to promote, celebrate, and create awareness of science in everyday life. Events typically involve Academy Fellows and other scientists and researchers, and may involve industry experts and event collaborators. Academy events can be tailored to engage specifically within the science sector or are aimed at non-expert audiences with different backgrounds to engage and inspire the unengaged with science information and experience.

Opportunities to collaborate in support of your goals and these unique Australian science outreach initiatives are available. Please contact Academy partnership and sponsorship to find out how you can collaborate with us. Below are some of the strong event collaborations and partnerships established with the Academy most recently.

Catalysing Gender Equity Conference

In February 2020, the Academy, in collaboration with Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE), delivered Catalysing Gender Equity 2020, a two-day outcome-driven conference guided by the Women in STEM Decadal Plan. The event connected the STEM ecosystem and enabled collaborations and networks. It allowed for shared evidence-based best practice. We thank event partners UniBank, Department of Defence, Queensland University of Technology, Edith Cowan University and FlamingoAi for their sponsorship. More about Catalysing Gender Equity 2020

Canberra Speaker Series

The Canberra Speaker Series welcomed the public to a six-part series of remarkable science stories. We thank Presenting Partner the University of Canberra, and event supporters Jirra Wines at Jeir Station, Elite Event Technology and Hauberg Catering. More about the Canberra Speaker Series

Falling Walls Lab

The Falling Walls Lab is an international forum for the next generation of outstanding innovators and creative thinkers that takes place in over 55 countries annually. The Academy hosts the annual Falling Walls Lab Australia at the Shine Dome in Canberra each year. The 2019 event was sponsored and supported by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, CSIRO, Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, AT Kearney, and the German–Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Tasting Australia

Tasting Australia was a unique and ‘moreish’ festival of food and beverage experiences in Adelaide and surrounding areas. The Academy supported the festival in April 2019 by presenting The chemistry of wine - an event in collaboration with Yalumba and the University of Adelaide. Tasting Australia plans to return in Autumn 2021. More about Tasting Australia

BeakerStreet

The Beaker Street festival is Tasmania’s annual celebration of science and art. The Academy supported the BeakerStreet@TMAG 2019 program by delivering four fascinating talks at Hobart Town Hall. Talks featured Academy Fellows Professor Martina Stenzel, Dr Steve Rintoul, Professor Jenny Graves alongside Professor Robyn Williams and Professor Mike Archer. Guests were then musically escorted to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery for more science talks, workshops, art, music, food and drinks. More about Beaker Street

World Science Festival Brisbane

World Science Festival Brisbane is run by the Queensland Museum and celebrates human curiosity and a desire to understand the world around us. The Academy supported the 2019 event program by hosting discussions and producing digital content to showcase all that is World Science Festival Brisbane. The festival plans to return to Brisbane from 24–28 March 2021. More about World Science Festival Brisbane

Canberra and Region Heritage Festival

The Canberra and Region Heritage Festival celebrates Aboriginal, historic and natural heritage through tours, open days, displays, food and workshops. In 2019 the Academy supported the festival program and opened the doors of the iconic Shine Dome. The popular tours revealed fascinating secrets about the first Canberra building to be added to the National Heritage List for its historical and architectural significance. The Academy also hosted a special screening of the movie Hidden Figures at the dome. These events celebrated 60 years of the Shine Dome and 50 years of the moon landing. The festival is part of the National Trust for the Australian Heritage Festival. The 38th ACT festival is planned for 6–26 April 2021. More about the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival
