Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scientist Award

The Australian Academy of Science launched the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scientist Travelling Research Award at Science at the Shine Dome on Thursday 24 May 2018.

This is a competitive award to support outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scientists in the natural sciences.

The award recognises research by PhD students and early- and mid-career scientists. It aims to support the expansion and growth of their research networks and international knowledge exchange through visits to relevant international centres of research.

Awards will be up for up to $20,000, with additional support provided to attend the Academy's Annual Science at the Shine Dome event.

The Academy is working to match the initial donation of $250,000 (to be contributed over five years) so that the future of this valuable award can be secured.
