Maggie Hardy

An internationally recognised leader in her field, Dr Maggie Hardy is an expert known for her contributions to chemistry, entomology, and evidence-based policy. She is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society in the United Kingdom, and serves on the Governing Board for the International Branch of the Entomological Society of America, is a Director for the Tech Girls Movement Foundation, and is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of Bravehearts. 

Maggie’s research is focused on the discovery, characterisation and commercialisation of novel chemistries from the venom of Australian spiders. Her research is applied across a number of sectors, including drug discovery and delivery, public health, agriculture, biosecurity, export and agribusiness. Maggie is an advocate for equity and diversity in higher education and careers in research, and has a particular interest in open access discovery programs. She also provides digital communication training for research scientists and clinicians, and is particularly interested in altmetrics and novel ways to measure engagement.
