David Wood

David Wood obtained Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Sydney University and a PhD in aeronautics from Imperial College, London. After a long career at the University of Newcastle and in industry, he became the NSERC/ENMAX Industrial Research Chair in Renewable Energy at the University of Calgary in 2010. His current research interests include wind turbine aerodynamics, wind and solar resource assessment and forecasting, and renewable remote power systems including applications in developing countries. He has worked with large wind turbine manufacturers on blade design and with wind farm owners on condition maintenance and asset management.  He has lectured on wind energy in every continent except Antarctica.
