Kerin O'Dea

Professor Kerin O'Dea is a professor of Nutrition and Population Health in the Centre of Population Health Research at the University of South Australia. She studies the relationship between diet and chronic dieseases, such as type 2 diabetes and CVD. Professor O'Dea also investigates the therapeutic and health impacts of traditional diets and lifestyles upon population health, and is well-known for her research into how a reversion to a traditional hunter-gatherer lifestyle had a beneficial impact upon diabetes and associated conditions in Australian Aborigines. Professor O'Dea has served on many national committees advising government on health and medical research, Indigenous health, nutrition, and diabetes.
