Stephen Simpson

Professor Stephen Simpson is Executive Director of Obesity Australia and Academic Director (CEO) of the Charles Perkins Centre, a $500 million University of Sydney initiative which aims to develop and implement cross-disciplinary approaches to alleviating the individual and societal burden of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and related conditions.

Stephen is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, won the Eureka Prize for Scientific Research in 2008 and was NSW Scientist of the Year in 2009. In 2013, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of London as ‘one of the world’s foremost entomologists and nutritional biologists’. He has also been prominent in the media, including presenting an acclaimed, landmark four-part documentary series for ABC TV, Great Southern Land.
