Unleashing the power of science to improve our nation’s future
The Australian Academy of Science is working in schools and the community to improve scientific literacy across Australia. The study of science prepares people for a lifetime of learning and critical thinking: invaluable traits in a range of professions and important for enabling Australians to make informed choices about issues that affect us all, from climate change and immunisation, to food and water security.
Our national education and awareness programs improve science and mathematics education at all levels, raise public awareness and understanding of science, and improve our national scientific and technological literacy.
Our award-winning primary school science education program, Primary Connections, is enquiry-based and links science with literacy. Primary Connections creates curriculum resources for classrooms and supports teachers with a specialised professional development program.
Science by Doing is the Academy's junior secondary school program. Its interactive digital resources are available free to every Australian high school student and science teacher, and deliver the national science curriculum in an engaging way using the latest technology.
reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry is a bold new national program designed to increase the engagement and achievement of Australian primary and secondary students through innovative approaches to mathematics teaching. The program is managed by the Academy in collaboration with the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers.
All of these programs are distinguished by the Fellowship of the Academy, who review each unit or topic to ensure it accurately represents the best available knowledge, All of them are strongly supported by donations to the Academy.
