President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences admitted to the Academy

Professor Chunli Bai, admitted as a Corresponding Member of the Academy.

The Academy formally admitted as a Corresponding Member the President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Chunli Bai FAA, at a ceremony at the Shine Dome on 18 December 2014.

Members of the Academy’s Council were joined at the ceremony by His Excellency, Ambassador Zhaoxu Ma and a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Science.

A pioneer in the field of nanoscience, Professor Bai joins 27 current Corresponding Members—all of whom are leading international researchers and science advocates with strong links to Australia.

While in Australia, Professor Bai also received an honorary doctorate from the Australian National University.

Professor Bai is President of the World Academy of Sciences and has served as the President of the Chinese Chemical Society.

The Academy has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with the Chinese Academy of Sciences since the early 1960s. This relationship was formalised with a Memorandum of Understanding in 1980.
