Position Statement—Australia’s scientific leadership in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean

Antarctic and Southern Ocean science is critical to understanding and responding to climate change and safeguarding Australia’s national interests.

The Australian Academy of Science calls for a long-term, sustainable funding model, improved coordination and a whole-of-government commitment to secure Australia’s scientific leadership and influence in the Antarctic governance system.
