The National Committee for Nutrition has received Australian Research Council funding as part of the Learned Academies Special Projects scheme to develop a Decadal Plan for Nutrition Science in Australia.

The plan aims to address the complex health and environmental challenges associated with changes in food production and consumption. Since the industrial revolution, our understanding of human diets has lagged behind the rate of change. This project will identify ways to better integrate knowledge across nutrients, foods, meals, diets and dietary patterns to understand balance rather than single nutrients or commodities.

The National Committee is looking for community input to the plan. A national consultation process is about to start, with the first consultation workshop being held in Canberra on 20 June. For More information on the plan, or register for a consultation workshop.
