Academy elected to Asia–Pacific network of science academies

November 07, 2016

Academy Fellow, Professor Cheryl Praeger, has been elected as Member-at-Large to the Executive Board of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA).

AASSA is made up of 34 science and technological academes and societies throughout Asia and the Pacific region and is one of four regional affiliated networks of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP). In the Academy’s strategic plan 2015–2020, it was noted that a priority for the Academy is to contribute Australian expertise and leadership in regional and global science networks. Election to the Executive Board of AASSA was an important step in achieving this goal.

The Academy has been represented on the Executive Board of AASSA previously by Professor Kurt Lambeck and Professor Jenny Graves. Professor Praeger will serve a two year term.
