Academy Fellow wins Eureka Prize for leadership

Australian Academy of Science Fellow Professor Terry Speed was awarded the CSIRO Eureka Prize for Leadership in Science yesterday.

At the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes awards dinner last night in Sydney, Professor Speed received the award for his leadership in the field of bioinformatics—data analysis which is vital for cancer research.

A total of 15 prizes were given at the annual awards for outstanding contributions to Australian science.

Three other Academy Fellows were also selected as finalists; Professor Hugh Durrant-Whyte, Professor Michelle Simmons, and Professor Bob Williamson.
