Academy hosts first Falling Walls Lab in Australia

March 04, 2016

Applications are now open for the first Falling Walls Lab in Australia.

The Falling Walls Labs ask scientists, entrepeneurs and innovators to showcase research relevant to real-world problems in under three minutes. These presentations are then judged by an expert panel and the winner selected for the Lab Finale in Berlin as one of only 100 participants from around the world.

Inspired by the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, the Falling Walls Foundation aims to gather thinkers, researchers and scientists to ask which are "the next walls to fall" in science and society.

Candidates from any field of the natural sciences, including technology, engineering and medicine, as well as social sciences and the humanities, are invited to apply and must hold a degree or be currently enrolled in university.

The Falling Walls Lab Australia will take place on 24 August this year at the Australian Academy of Science's Shine Dome in Canberra.

The deadline for applications is 23 May 2016
