Applications open for risk think tank

March 10, 2016

The Australian Academy of Science is inviting early- and mid-career researchers to apply to attend a July think tank on the science of risk and uncertainty.

Only 60 researchers will be chosen to attend the think tank to discuss the issues of risk and uncertainty in the context of three major areas: international security, the environment and antimicrobial resistance.

Theo Murphy High Flyers Think Tanks are an opportunity for EMCRs from a diverse range of disciplines to consider new developments in science and their political, regulatory and ethical implications. Their findings will be collected into a public policy report.

The 2016 Theo Murphy High Flyers Think Tank: An interdisciplinary approach to living in a risky world will be held in Canberra on 20–22 July at the Academy’s Shine Dome in Canberra.

The think tanks are generously supported by the Theo Murphy (Australia) Fund, which is administered by the UK Royal Society. Travel, accommodation and registration costs for the selected applicants will be fully funded.

The deadline for applications is 31 March 2016.
