DEATH and SEX followed by MURDER

August 10, 2016

Two successful public events in Hobart and Melbourne have explored the taboo subjects of DEATH and SEX respectively. The next event in ‘The Science of Life + Death’ series will be MURDER in Brisbane.

Our first event, DEATH in Hobart, explored the definition of death, how we work to stop death in emergencies, dealing with mass death events, and the fascinating science of body decomposition. You can watch the 10min presentations from our three experts below.

The second event, SEX in Melbourne, looked at the genetics behind our gender and sexual preferences, new technology for contraceptives, and how our relationship with sexually transmitted diseases has changed over time. You can watch these presentations below too.

Brisbane will be the third venue for the series, where three scientists will be attacking the science of MURDER on September 16 – so grab your tickets!

Our MC Bernie Hobbs will delve into this dark and intriguing topic, as Dr Aaron Sell pulls back the curtain on the mind of a murderer, Dr Harendra Parekh peers into poison, and Associate Professor Bryan Fry shares what he’s learned from a life studying venom.

The remaining events in the five-part series will be LIFE in Perth on 10 November and IMMORTALITY in Adelaide on 15 February 2017. Head to the series event page for more information.
