In this issue we’re celebrating science policy – taking research and turning it into evidence-based plans for the betterment of our country.

First up, we meet Dr Holly Vuong and Dr Duncan Fitzpatrick, who were working in scientific research and decided to put their research skills to excellent use in science policy through the Office of the Chief Scientist’s Science Policy Fellowships.

Research got you down? Tired of your boring intro seminar slide? Need some help getting the creative juices flowing again? Take a look at the article by Dr Emma Rehn on tips from speed drawing science cartoons.

This issue’s Inspiring EMCR is Madison Hartill-Law, who, along with her day job of working in women in STEM policy, runs Shirty Science – a wonderful social enterprise turning science into art and whacking it on t-shirts.

We also hear from EMCR Forum Executive members Dr Vanessa Moss and Dr Mohammad Taha, who reflect on the Forum’s professional development conference Science Pathways 2021.

Finally, Agony Aunt returns to harness the passion and/or frustration stirred up by the recent election to gain some experience and contribute to shaping policy and decision-making.

Remember to get in touch if you would like to contribute to any of these sections, have an EMCR group or event you would like to see featured, or have a question for our Agony Aunt.

You can reach us at emcr@science.org.au.
