A call to all astronomers

February 13, 2014

The Australian Academy of Science’s National Committee for Astronomy is marching ahead with its plan to guide the future of Australian astronomy for the next 10 years.

Town hall meetings to help shape the plan begin tomorrow in Melbourne and will be held in various locations across the country throughout February, March and April. You can also participate in the Astronomy demographics census. The census collects data from Australian astronomers and astronomy institutions to allow the community to assess its strengths and more effectively plan for the future. The census will remain open until 1 March 2014.

The plan, to be launched next year, follows on from the highly successful previous plan New Horizons: A Decadal Plan for Australian Astronomy 2006-2015.

Details of the meetings can be found here.
