I feel like it was only yesterday that I was welcoming you all to the first Pathways for 2018, and now the season is upon us once again. If that makes you think of holiday season, then congrats on the healthy mental state and achieving work-life balance. If ‘the season’ instead means grant season to you, congrats on your continued optimism and efforts, and good luck.

Whatever the season is to you right now, break it up a little with this edition of Pathways. We have a spotlight on EMCR groups where you can learn what the Australian Society for Medical Research is doing to support EMCRs. We have a report from the 2nd Postdoctoral Methods Symposium in Melbourne  where the EMCRs are walking the walk and not just talking the talk when it comes to inclusion, support and networking. Our Deputy Chair, Róisín McMahon takes us on the journey of a recent EMCR Forum submission to government.

We go On the job with… Dr Alex Russell, who researches the psychology of gambling. The Agony Aunt has some advice on funding opportunities and you can find out what the EMCR Forum Executive has been up to lately. We also have an interview with Dr Nicole van der Weerden, CEO of Hexima Ltd, on her journey into industry as a woman in STEM.

We hope you enjoy our last newsletter for 2018 and we look forward to seeing you in 2019.
