Prime Minister Tony Abbott meets scientists at Science meets Parliament

Bipartisan support for science in Australia was on display at Science meets Parliament in early March, as both sides of politics acknowledged the importance of science and research to government decision-making.

The event, supported by the Academy and held over two days in Canberra, brings around 200 scientists, including early- and mid-career researchers, face-to-face with federal politicians. This year it also featured the relaunching of the Parliamentary Friends of Science group for politicians passionate about science.
