6th JSPS HOPE Meeting held in Tokyo

A delegation of six Australian PhD students and postdoctoral researchers travelled to Japan in March to attend the sixth HOPE Meeting in Tokyo, organised by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), from 11‒15 March 2014. The discipline fields this year included physics, chemistry, physiology/medicine and related fields.

Lecturers at the meeting included Professor Martin Chalfie, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Dr Makoto Kobayashi, Nobel Laureate in Physics, Professor Einichi Negishi, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Sir Richard Roberts KB FRS, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, and Professor Brian Schmidt AC FAA FRS, Nobel Laureate in Physics.

The students and researchers were selected by the Academy’s National Committees for Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, and Medicine and Public Health.
