EMCR Forum social media policy
Twitter username: @EMCRForum
- Management and moderation of the Forum’s social media accounts is restricted to the nominated members of the EMCR Forum Executive
- The Forum website will publish a social media disclaimer as per the disclaimer that exists on the media section of the Academy’s website stating the Twitter terms and conditions (see below)
- The account will be used primarily as an announcement tool. The EMCR Forum will not usually enter into social media conversations, or respond directly to comments about the Forum or the Academy. However, managers of the accounts will monitor online conversation and will respond as appropriate to incorrect information.
- Tweets will be limited to material that is otherwise publicly available, through, eg:
- Mail-outs (electronic or hard copy)
- Website
- Newsletters
- Media releases
- Public lectures or announcements
- This policy is to be reviewed three months following commencement of Twitter and annually thereafter. The review will assess:
- Number of followers/likes
- Frequency and topics of re-tweets
- Mentions by other users of @EMCRForum
- Practicality and pitfalls of implementing the policy

The @EMCRForum Twitter account is maintained by members of the EMCR Forum Executive.
Content will generally relate to Australian Academy of Science publications, web content or media releases. The accounts will also be used to release information about events, submissions and public statements that are of particular relevance to EMCRs.

@ Replies and Direct Messages
The EMCR Forum appreciates receiving feedback and suggestions via Twitter and will maintain consistent monitoring of the accounts. However, we may not respond directly to individual messages.
